Our Fabrics
Golden Girl dresses are made solely from materials we can feel good about using, and you will feel even better wearing. Known for their breathability and soft hand feel, our sustainable and organic fabrics are gentle on the skin and will keep you feeling your most comfortable throughout the day. All dyes used to color our garments are eco-friendly and involve zero chemical treatments.
ORGANIC COTTON
Our seersucker and poplin cotton fabrications meet the Global Organic Textile Standard. Fibers grown and harvested to meet GOTS criteria contain a minimum of 95% certified organic fibers, where as "made from organic materials" only requires that 70% of fibers are certified organic. This does not allow the use of genetically modified seeds and restricts the use of many chemicals - making the process safe for the environment, the farmers, and you. Although there is no way around the use of water in cotton growing, organic cotton is mostly rain fed and helps sustain the land it is grown on through crop rotations, and natural ways of controlling pesticides.
TENCEL
Made from cellulosic fibers of botanic origin, Tencel is a sustainable alternative to many fabrics on the market. This fabric, known for its gentleness on skin, luxe hand feel and breathability, is produced from sustainably sourced wood by environmentally responsible processes. Created by photosynthesis, these trees grow quickly and require minimal land for optimal yield. This process transforms the wood pulp without the use of pesticides or insecticides, where non-toxic solvents are recycled and reused instead of becoming waste water. These fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and thus can fully revert back to nature. By wearing garments made from Tencel, consumers can have the assurance that their fashion choices are not contributing to an adverse impact on the environment.
AZO-FREE DYES
Did you know that the U.S. allows for garments to be colored and printed using carcinogenic treatments? The dyes used for Golden Girl prints and pigments are eco-friendly and certified Azo-free and chemical free - a safer alternative for your skin.

USDA BIOBASED
Biobased products replace the need for many petroleum-based products, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. By reducing the need for mining and burning of fossil carbon, we can avoid the release of new carbon into the atmosphere and help control climate change.
Oeko Tex 100
This worldwide standard ensures that about 2,000 chemicals are either not used at all or that the residues are within very tight limits in the textile production.
